Local Massage Therapist Joins Select Few

(Saranac Lake, NY) (May 9, 2008) –  Congratulations to local massage therapist Dan Sullivan, LMT, MPA for becoming a Certified Zero Balancing Practitioner. Sullivan is the only Certified Zero Balancing (ZB) Practitioner in the Adirondacks. He now joins the ranks of 36 certified ZB practitioners in New York state and 479 in the United States. Zero Balancing is practiced by acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, medical doctors, nurses, osteopaths, physical therapists, psychiatrists and other professionals.

Sullivan and five other students from across the country recently graduated from the certification program at the Claymont Retreat Center in Charles Town West Virginia held from May 2-May 4, 2008.  The graduation ceremony was part of The Zero Balancing Health Association’s 2008 Benefit, Expanding Your Zero Balancing Horizons.

Zero Balancing is an advance form of bodywork developed by Fritz Smith, M.D. Osteopath, Rolfer and Acupuncturist, in 1973. The hands-on bodywork system combines Western scientific approaches with Eastern concepts of energy and healing. ZB nurtures well-being of the whole person, body, mind and spirit.  The deep work is performed gently with the client fully clothed.

During his career as a massage therapist, Sullivan has experienced hundreds of massages and various forms of energy and bodywork.  Yet, a massage therapist friend still characterized his body as “hard as a rock.”  Where as, Sullivan states, “After my third Zero Balancing session, I felt held tension leave three quarters of my body.”
